Distribution
How published skills reach Claude and the other apps people work in.
Distribution covers every way a skill gets from Parcel into an AI app. The Parcel connector is always on and reaches Claude chat, Claude Code and any app that signs in to an MCP address. The features in this module add more ways: plugins in Claude Code, native skill folders for other agents, a Git repository for your organization's marketplace, and zip downloads.
- Everyone connects their apps once on the Connect page, then turns skills on in Explore. New versions arrive by themselves.
- Admins set up the Git mirror, managed settings and address lifetimes under Admin, Distribution, and switch the features under Admin, Features.
Only published versions go out, and only to people who have Use on the skill.
The ways a skill travels
| Way | Reaches | Classifications | When access ends |
|---|---|---|---|
| Parcel connector | Claude chat, Claude Code, other apps over MCP | All, Confidential included | On the next request |
| Personal marketplace address | Claude Code | Not sensitive, Internal | Claude Code removes the skill at its next start |
parcel sync | Claude Code | Not sensitive, Internal | Claude Code removes the skill at its next refresh |
parcel sync --agents | The shared folder ~/.agents/skills | Not sensitive, Internal | The next parcel sync --agents removes it |
| Git mirror | Your organization's marketplace | Not sensitive, Internal; Confidential if an admin allows it | At the next publish and the vendor's next sync |
| Download | Any app, uploaded by hand | Not sensitive, Internal | Never: a downloaded copy stays where it was put |
A skill's page shows only the ways its classification allows and your workspace has on.

What admins can switch off
Under Admin, Features, the Distribution module lists these features. All are on by default.
| Feature | Off means |
|---|---|
| Personal marketplace addresses | Nobody can create an address. Existing addresses serve no skills, so Claude Code removes the ones it installed through them |
| CLI sync | parcel sync gets no skills, so Claude Code removes the ones it installed through it. People still sign in with the CLI to write and review skills |
| Sync for other agents | parcel sync --agents removes the skill folders it wrote. Needs CLI sync |
| Git mirrors | The mirror sections leave Admin, Distribution and nothing more is published |
| Managed settings | The managed settings file leaves Admin, Distribution. Needs CLI sync |
| Downloads | Skill pages show no download button and Connect shows no Gemini app tab |
The Parcel connector stays on whatever you switch. With every feature here off, skills reach people through the connector alone.
